As we welcome autumn together, join Gary Malkin for an intimate afternoon of sharing music together for Toby Symington and Commonweal’s Festival of Sacred Music.

For more than three decades, Gary has explored music as far more than entertainment—as a powerful way of opening the heart, awakening gratitude, deepening compassion, and reconnecting us with what matters most.

Let’s honor the seasonal change by slowing down enough to enter a different quality of presence—one in which listening itself can become a shared prayer and the boundaries between performer and audience begin to soften. Beneath our differences, we belong to one another.

The afternoon will also include a heartfelt tribute to Gary’s beloved friend and longtime collaborator Michael Stillwater, honoring Michael’s extraordinary legacy and the enduring spirit of his ChantWave—the practice of singing ourselves into connection through soulful community chanting.

At a time when so much conspires to divide and distract us, music offers another possibility: to listen together, sing together, and remember something we too easily forget.
